Brain Cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in children. More research is needed into ending the devastating impact of brain cancer.
We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2025 - Spring! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Alice Springs to Gold Coast.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 15th year.
The money raised goes to the Cancer Council Australia and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support a charity that directly funds research into cancer. Fundraising is the hardest part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.
Do it for Stu consists of Aidan "Skip" Skipsey and Alex "AlDav" Davenport.
There are many reasons we are fundraising but primarily it is in honour of our mate Stu. Stu died in 2020 of Anaplastic Astrocytoma, a devastating brain cancer. Losing a good friend has had a huge impact on our lives and even impacted Alex's Career direction. Alex is a scientist working in Immunotherapy (using the immune system to fight cancer). In 2022 Alex returned to Australia to find new cures for brain cancer. Specialising in Kid's Brain Cancer, Alex is developing new therapies for kids that have no hope.
Aidan has tinkered with mechanics over the years and can be useful with a set of tools to make the journey complete. Being in the Fire industry by day and volunteering at the local CFA as an active firefighter at night, giving back to the community is a big part of our lives.
There has been no improvement in treatment for patients suffering with brain cancer, adults or children in decades. Our current treatments are so toxic, that many patients refuse to complete the full course. This needs to change. With your help, we can all make a small but powerful impact.
Please help us reach our goal of raising a minimum of $5,000 AUD for Cancer Research and in particular, these grants help fund brain cancer research.
No amount is too small and below is to give you an idea of what your money goes to help support:
$5 - Important PPE to keep the scientists safe and the samples sterile.
$50 - Flasks and tubes to grow cancer cells.
$100 - Reagents to allow us to look at the DNA/RNA of cancer cells.
$500 - A tube of specialised coloured labels to help us identify cancer specific targets.
$1,000 - Reagents and microscopy time on state of the art microscopes allowing us to look at the tumour in it's environment
$5,000 - A full mouse experiment where we can test our treatments
$40,000 - A PhD stipend (Salary) student full-time for one year.
Research is expensive, and times are hard for everyone. Small amounts add up, and research requires dollars. The amount you give today, exponentially impacts the lives of those impacted with cancer in the future.
We thank everyone for their contribution and together we can make a difference.

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
$59 million over the past 15 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
