We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2025 - Spring! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Alice Springs to Gold Coast.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 15th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the Spring 2025 rally target set at $2,000,000 plus.
We are driving our 1999 Toyota Camry once again! This will be the 3rd rally that the car has completed..... and it needs some minor attention to have it ready again this year. When we bought the car for our first rally in 2019 there was a car value limit of $1000…... so it is really a shitbox, with no working aircon, a cracked windscreen and radiator, dodgy suspension, a leaking fuel tank and a clutch that desperately needs replacing. The interior is a hazmat zone with accumulated dust and grime from the previous 2 rallies (Our wives refuse to sit in the car).
Across both previous rallies in 2019 and 2022, we raised over $31,000 thanks to generous supporters, donors and sponsors. We are aiming to raise well over the minimum $5,000 required to enter the rally again this year.
This year the rally route starts in Alice Springs 😲, heads south to Yulara, Oodnadatta and Copley, over the Flinders ranges then through Silverton, up to Bourke and Nindigully and finishes at the Gold Coast. About 4000kms in 7 days, much of it on unsealed roads. And we will be driving 2700kms from Brisbane just to get to the start line in Alice beforehand……. What could go wrong….
Many of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another. Whether it be parents, family, close friends, people we know or ourselves that have battled or are battling cancer, this awful disease has touched us all. We not only want to raise awareness and money for Cancer Council, but also want to offer support and a friendly ear to those that have suffered or are suffering.
These funds go to Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below or our FACEBOOK page at

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
$59 million over the past 15 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
