From 24 October to 1 November 2025, Andrew Thomas and Shaun Ferris will be taking part in the Shitbox Rally 2025 – Spring Edition! We’ll be driving from Alice Springs to the Gold Coast in a car worth just $1,500—yes, a real “shitbox”—all in the name of charity. The rally isn’t a race, but a challenge to push limits, tackle some of Australia’s roughest and most remote roads, and most importantly, raise funds for the Cancer Council. Along the way, we’ll join a community of like-minded adventurers, united by a shared commitment to making a difference and having a bloody good time doing it.
Cancer has touched the lives of so many, including ours. Whether it's a parent, a sibling, a mate, or even ourselves, most of us know someone who has fought or is fighting this terrible disease. That’s why we’re passionate about supporting the Cancer Council—not just by raising vital funds, but also by spreading awareness and standing in solidarity with those affected. The Shitbox Rally is now in its 15th year and is Australia’s largest community-led fundraiser for the Cancer Council, with a Spring 2025 goal of raising over $2 million. Every dollar raised brings us closer to a future where no one has to face cancer alone.
We’ve committed to raising at least $5,000, but we’re aiming higher and would love to get to or beyond $15,000—and we need your help to get there. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal and helps support the Cancer Council’s essential work, from groundbreaking research to prevention programs and support services for patients and families. We’ll be sharing our journey, from the build-up to the bumpy outback roads, so be sure to follow along. Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
